Spiderman, 2002 (A summary)

A story about Peter Parker struggling with his powers, breaking up with Mary Jane, and fighting a supervillain who ultimately kills himself.

Peter Parker is a boy with a face of a puppy, and a voice of a less threatening puppy. When the student, physicist, journalist, pizza delivery boy gets accidentally bitten by a radioactive spider, he fortunately learned special abilities like wall climbing, web shooting and occasionally having special spider sense.

At first, he irresponsibly used his superpowers in amazingly useless things like wrestling and letting a robber escape which unfortunately resulted to the death of his uncle Ben. Peter greatly regrets his actions and started living with his uncle's last words "With great power, comes great responsibility". Peter then immediately started fighting crimes in the city. He became famous in the city as a superhero but some people stupidly think that he is a bad person like Jonah Jameson, Peter's boss in a newspaper publishing company who overly believes that spiderman is a bad person.

One of the people who spiderman saved was Mary Jane, his former schoolmate whom he romantically likes. Unfortunately, she is his bestfriend's girlfriend so he can only go far with her as friends.
At that time, Osborn was ridiculously kicked out of his company and attempted revenge on the members of the company who kicked him out. The plan was not a full success thanks to spiderman who saved nearby innocent civilians.

Osborn, who was called the green goblin, heavily wanted more revenge so he pursued spiderman to join him but spiderman refused. Because of this, spiderman has to fight green goblin. Spiderman was able to kill green goblin. And again, the day was saved by spiderman.

I think continually of those who are truly great by Stephen Spender

I think continually of those who were truly great.
Who, from the womb, remembered the soul's history
Through corridors of light where the hours are suns
Endless and singing. Whose lovely ambition
Was that their lips, still touched with fire,
Should tell of the Spirit clothed from head to foot in song.
And who hoarded from the Spring branches
The desires falling across their bodies like blossoms.

What is precious is never to forget
The essential delight of the blood drawn from ageless springs
Breaking through rocks in worlds before our earth.
Never to deny its pleasure in the morning simple light
Nor its grave evening demand for love.
Never to allow gradually the traffic to smother
With noise and fog the flowering of the spirit.

Near the snow, near the sun, in the highest fields
See how these names are feted by the waving grass
And by the streamers of white cloud
And whispers of wind in the listening sky.
The names of those who in their lives fought for life
Who wore at their hearts the fire's center.
Born of the sun they traveled a short while towards the sun,
And left the vivid air signed with their honor.
